My name is Dana.
I lived for four years in a rented place in Constanța, where my work was. During those years, souls asking for help kept appearing on my path. Some were injured. Others had been abandoned. Many were traumatized. I couldn't walk past them. I took them from the street, cared for their wounds and illnesses, one by one. Without realizing it, they became my family.
Then the day came when we had to leave Constanța.
I couldn't leave any of them behind. Not even one. I had saved them from the street and from disease, not to abandon them again. So we all set off together: 13 cats and 2 dogs, on a long, hard road of over 600 kilometres. And we made it. We all arrived in Târgu Jiu.
This is the only place where I can give them a shelter. I built a mesh pen, 6 by 3 metres. But the yard is right next to the national road. I can't let them out for a moment. A few have already managed to escape to a new place they didn't know, and I searched for them until I found them. In the meantime, a small kitten appeared in the yard, and now she is with us too.
The pen keeps them close to me, but it doesn't protect them from the cold. Night already feels like winter. Food runs out quickly. I have lost my income and can't go to work until I know they are safe and warm. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed. But I don't give up on them. Every day I run and look for a solution.
That's why I'm writing to you. I want to turn the pen into a real winter shelter: enclosed with OSB boards and insulated, with heated blankets made especially for animals and with reinforced mesh, so no one can get to the road.
Any help, however small, means a night where they sleep warm. For them and for me, it would mean we are not alone.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading our story.
